Assessing

At Vision Academy CS, our approach to assessing individual development involves a comprehensive array of metrics underpinned by a commitment to nurturing a growth mindset that encourages self-improvement, goal attainment, and the recognition that learning is inherently personalized. Our pedagogical philosophy is rooted in educating the whole child, where assessment is a tool for self-discovery and enhancement.

For all scholars enrolled at Vision Academy CS, our evaluation strategy entails utilizing i-Ready diagnostic assessments three times annually, gauging students’ academic progress and growth in Reading and Math. Grades 3-8 students also partake in the 4Sight/ Internally developed benchmark assessments twice a year for Reading and Math. These assessments assess their advancement concerning the PA Core Standards while preparing them for the state PSSA testing. In select cases, our Student Services and recovery teachers administer the Wilson Language Training Student Assessment, aimsWEBplus, DRA, and internally developed evaluations to fine-tune curriculum and instruction, identifying areas for desired growth among students and staff.

The PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) holds immense significance in propelling the growth of both students and staff. With our dedicated team, we utilize PSSA outcomes to discern trends within grade levels, identify strengths, and pinpoint areas warranting enhancement. For our students, PSSA results furnish insights into individual needs and strengths. We hold these assessments in high regard, utilizing them to ensure that our students receive the essential support to transcend standards.
