Learning

The educational program at Vision Academy Charter Schools is meticulously crafted around the Core Knowledge Sequence, underscoring the fundamental principle that learning proficiency thrives on a bedrock of mastered content. This intentionally structured trajectory is harmonized with state standards and sanctioned content, ensuring that students of varying capabilities amass essential knowledge pivotal for elevated learning. The Core Knowledge Sequence is an enriched framework, nurturing a tapestry of knowledge, language, and skills. This scaffolded approach, built atop previously assimilated material, guarantees that each student not only acquires specialized skills pertinent to subjects but also gains cultural literacy, pivotal for comprehending the intrinsic value of content (Hirsh, 1985).

Further bolstering this educational ethos, Vision Academy integrates resources like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Into Math, Singapore Math, CKLA, CKHG, and Amplify, customizing their English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Mathematics content to the school’s model. The Core Knowledge Foundation’s endorsement of these curriculum publishers stems from their fidelity to the Core Knowledge Sequence and prowess in delivering Direct Instruction. This dynamic amalgamation empowers educators to supplement with supplementary materials, easing the students’ learning journey.

In nurturing the diverse needs of our students, Vision Academy Charter School champions a Multi-Tiered Support System (MTSS), a holistic approach offering targeted interventions and tailored learning pathways. We extend these learning horizons with an expanded instructional timeframe, utilizing Extended Day, Saturday, and Summer Schools. This extended canvas provides supplementary academic support and nurtures a profound interaction with the curriculum. Per our holistic vision, we amalgamate diverse offerings, from Makerspace and STEAM programs to interdisciplinary approaches. We underscore this ethos by integrating Project-Based Learning (PBL), allowing students to ingrain their learning in a real-world context. Curriculum Nights, flipped classroom model, Blended Instruction, and regular curriculum revisions merge to create an educational panorama that empowers students to excel academically and personally.
