PBIS

The PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) framework at Vision Academy CS is designed to incorporate evidence-based practices across multiple tiers, providing comprehensive support for all scholars’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. These practices are implemented at the school, classroom, and individual levels. Our primary objective is to actively teach, prompt, model, practice, and foster positive social skills appropriate for each scholar’s age.

PBIS reflects our dedication to addressing scholars’ behavior through systematic approaches. When effectively implemented, it enhances social and academic outcomes for scholars while ensuring consistency in upholding a shared Code of Conduct language throughout Vision Academy Charter School.  This goal is achieved through the collective efforts of our staff, families, and community members. Scholars at our school engage in problem-solving situations that involve open discussions, a consideration of others’ feelings, and the development of personal responsibility.

By instilling The Power of 3 principles—Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Community—we provide a pathway for our scholars to grasp the value of embodying these qualities throughout their lives. Our aim is for them to become lifetime RACERS: Respectful, Active Community Members who Show Empathy, Responsibility, and Self-Control.

The Positive Behavior System of Class Dojo is intended to recognize students for their efforts to demonstrate Husky RACERS behavior.  All staff members have Scholar Points and give them to students after they notice behavior that deserves such recognition.  Scholar Points are not intended as a bribe to induce appropriate behavior, nor does all appropriate behavior automatically earn a scholar point.  Behavior, not academic performance, is the basis for earning scholar points.  Points can be traded in for items or activities.  Options change periodically and there is an effort to balance social, material, and edible choices.

The Positive Behavior System applies during regular school hours and the Extended Day program. Each year starts anew so scholars do not keep points at home over the summer months.  At the end of the year, there are opportunities for scholars to “spend” earned points.
